Casper's Story

Casper's Foundation was created in memory of a sweet and lovable Siberian Husky puppy named Casper. Casper's playful and gentle spirit warmed the hearts of everyone who met him. Thanks to the great efforts of Southern Siberian Rescue (http://www.southernsiberian.com), Casper was rescued from a puppy mill in 2011. A random Sunday afternoon of running errands led me to Trader Joes in Piper Glen and in the middle of the festivities of Animal Kneads Day. That was the day Casper joined our family and enriched our lives.

Only a few few months after bringing Casper home, he suffered from his first seizure. One seizure turned into clusters and it became an incredibly tough year trying to determine the cause of his seizures and find a way to stabilize/manage them. Regular veterinary visits, medications, blood work, blood level checks, emergency veterinary visits and hospitalization at Carolina Veterinary Specialists were financial and emotional strains. Unfortunately Casper lost his battle with idiopathic epilepsy too soon at the young puppy age of 18 months.

We are hoping to ease the strain and suffering for both the pet and pet owner thru Casper's Foundation. We are planning to offer financial assistance and provide education and awareness to qualified applicants in the management of their pet's seizures who are in the greater Charlotte area. Limitations are both financial and medical. The pet must have idiopathic epilepsy (description soon to come) and the owner must meet specific financial hardship.
